  1. Removing Displays

As an admin, I should be allowed to remove displays that other people created. I currently don't have that ability.

If you are in the PI Vision Admins group, you will have permissions to delete any display. This can be done on the PI Vision home page by clicking on the gear icon to open the Display Settings dialog and choosing ‘Delete display’. If you’d like to delete displays in bulk, the PI Vision Display Utility can be used for this.

  2. Data set Export to Text File

Add an export option to the new Migration tool to export an Datasets to a text file.

The PI ProcessBook to PI Vision Migration Utility has an analysis report that has detailed information about each display that was analyzed, including information about data sets. This report can be filtered down to a list of data set equations contained in the analyzed displays.

5. Change display sharing options for displays in a folder

If a display is in a folder, the list of identities with which the display can be shared will include all identities. However, the customer do not want to see all the Identities, only want to find all identities that the current user is a member of.

In PI Vision 2019, only users with write access to a folder will see the sharing option for that folder. The list of identities shown for sharing will be the identities that the user is a member of in addition to the identities that the folder has already been shared with.

The PI ProcessBook to PI Vision Migration Utility has been released.

This utility allows you to easily migrate PI ProcessBook displays to PI Vision, producing native PI Vision displays that are editable and immediately usable in OSIsoft’s latest visualization infrastructure.

To learn more about this new utility and to see it in action, check out this video on our YouTube learning channel:

  8. Make XY-Plot available for collections

Most symbols can be dynamically organized into collections, which is very handy for comparing assets of different sites, where the number of assets vary.
The XY-Plot does not support this function at the moment.

  9. Not all publishers get folder modification access

Although user is set up as publisher, does not get the ability to modify folders or move graphics to folders. Only the "Administrator" named user gets this capability.

In order to modify folders or move displays to folders a user must have write access to that folder. It is only the root level (under Home) that can only be controlled by PI Vision administrators. Once an Admin creates root folders, they can assign write access to the appropriate AF identities and then the members of those identities will be able to modify the folders.

Here’s some more information on folder permissions in case it is helpful: https://livelibrary.osisoft.com/LiveLibrary/content/en/vision-v2/GUID-947EDD0E-DC0B-40AC-A0C5-3E554E27E445

  10. Trend Scale Range:  Top / Bottom Based on AF Attribute or calculation

Would like the ability to set the trend scale based on an AF Attribute since different products, equipment, lines etc might have different operating parameters.

It would also be nice to be able to base the scale on a calculation, i.e. (AFAttributeUpperLimit + 5%)

AF attributes can be used for scale limits in PI Vision. This can be done using the Minimum and Maximum limit attribute traits in AF.

If these are set and the trend is configured to use database settings then these values will be used as the minimum and maximum scale values.

For more information on attribute limit traits please see: https://livelibrary.osisoft.com/LiveLibrary/content/en/server-v11/GUID-0D32012F-7520-4555-8086-FBC6286FC50A

  11. Hover/Mouse Over ToolTip for Hyperlinks and Navigation Links

As a PI Vision user, it would be helpful to have a ToolTip showing the hyperlink when a Navigation Link is added to an object or symbol. Right now, this only occurs with a Text symbol, but it would be helpful to have this for other symbols, such as a shape or image.

In PI Vision 2019, navigation links are now more discoverable on a display. When hovering over a symbol with a navigation link, the mouse cursor will change to indicate that there is a link and the symbol’s tooltip will display the configured hyperlink.

Navigating is now done using a single-click instead of a double-click for all symbols except for the trend, where a double-click is still required so that single-click trend interactions (trend cursor, highlighting a trace) are still possible.

  12. Trending

    Trending Must Haves:

I recently installed PI Vision here and I am getting feedback about the trending capabilities, or the lack there of. Please fix the following in the trends

    1. The ability to click on values on a page and create an Ad-Hoc Trend. This is another major need.

    2. Need to add descriptors to trends

    3. MUST BE ABLE to un-zoom in a trend and keep your current place in time. For example if I have a 24 hour trend and I scroll back 10 days and then zoom in, when I un-zoom I still want to be back 10 days…

A few of the items mentioned in this request have been completed, and others are being tracked separately so I have closed this item. Please see links below to the related requests:

    1. This feature has been added in PI Vision 2019: https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517-pi-vision/suggestions/19529974

    3. This is possible on trends in displays by undo-ing the trend zoom action with Ctrl+Z. Undo functionality was added to popup trends in PI Vision 2019: https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517/suggestions/16052407

    4. This functionality has been added in PI Vision 2019: https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517/suggestions/18710188

  13. Ad hoc trend with multiple selected attributes

Build trend with multiple traces based on a display data (for instance, from a table). PI Vision user should be able to select multiple items on the table and then trend them on a single ad-hoc trend to compare. The ad-hoc trend should appear in a pop-up window (which you can move) in the same browser tab and the user should be able to switch between the main screen and the ah-hoc trend window to drag and drop more attributes from tables and value symbols on the screen. It's very important to see both ad-hoc trend and the main display…

PI Vision 2019 introduces new ad hoc trending capabilities that allow users to
quickly select data from across displays to add to an ad hoc workspace where you can analyze data and investigate issues.

  15. Option to disable warning pop-up for trusted third-party sites

Add the option to whitelist certain domains from triggering the third-party warning pop-up. This could also be handled per session by end-users ("Remember my choice") instead of adding domains to a whitelist.

Current version of PI Vision has the dialog box hardcoded to trigger if a navigation link is not a link to another display.

In PI Vision 2019, this behavior has been changed so that there is no longer a pop-up warning when navigating to an external site. Instead the mouse cursor will change to indicate when a symbol is configured with a navigation link and a tooltip will show the navigation link URL.

  16. Use AF attribute traits to set symbol scale or limits

As a PI Vision user, I would like to have the option to set the scale or limits of any symbol based on the attribute traits defined in AF. When the symbol contains multiple attributes, it would be useful to be able to select only one attribute to define the scale of the symbol.

PI Vision currently supports this functionality. When the ‘database’ option is selected for a symbol scale, if the attribute has Min and Max traits, the traits will automatically be used to define the scale on the PI Vision symbol.

  17. Multistate Configuration should show the values defined for the limits besides the traits (Maximum, HiHi, Hi, Lo, etc..).

For multistate configuration with AF limits, the customer would like to see the values defined for the limits besides the traits (Maximum, HiHi, Hi, Lo, etc..).

In previous versions the limit trait values were shown in the tooltip if you hovered over the name shown for the limit. In PI Vision 2017 R2 we changed this so that the value is shown in the configuration pane under the name of the limit attribute trait so that you do not need to hover to see these values.

  18. Allow a way to clean up the Display Management "To" list of users

Customer has many more users appearing in the display management To list than the from list. He is wondering why being or having been a display owner at some is sufficient to remain in this list. Could there be a means to delete unneeded users from this "To" list?

  19. Display hand when hovering over objects with Navigation Links

When hovering with the mouse over a display object that has a Navigation Link attached to it, the mouse cursor should change to a hand when not in edit mode and it should navigate on single-click instead of having to double-click.

Showing the description of search item results in tooltips was added in the 2016 R2 version.
