  3. PI Vision Edge Chromium browser compatibility

As we're going to use Chromium browser as enterprise standard, it would be great if Chromium was officially compatible with PI Vision (case number 00643921).

PI Vision 2019 Patch 1 was tested with and is officially compatible with the new version of Microsoft Edge that is based on Chromium. For additional information on supported browsers please refer to the PI Vision Release Notes.

  4. Zooming in trend object should also zoom into the XY plot

Zooming into the trend object doesn't zoom into the XY plot on the same display. I’ll click the left arrow then the right arrow in the time bar to overcome this.

Zooming in on a trend updates the display time range, which in turn will update your XY plot.

If this is not occurring in your display, please contact TechSupport for additional troubleshooting.

  5. Shape Fill continued

When creating a shape in PI vision, you can set the "fill" to empty so as to see behind the shape you made. However, it would be nice if there was a setting that would allow it to "move-to-back" so as to allow a user to click things within the shape while keeping the outline of the shape.

  6. Imported Processbook Display, Allow option for Scale-Range when open pop-up trend by clicking on Value Symbol

Currently on imported PB display, when clicking on Value Symbol, a pop-up trend will use Auto-Range to set the scale of the trend. I would like to have an the option to use 'Database' setting.

  8. Small scroll increment of trend time in PI Vision

Need to be able to make smaller than 1 interval change on time scroll.  Example: if displaying 1H of data, user can scroll 1H increments.  I would like to scroll in 1H increments or 15 minute increments.  this help navigating to right time period.

Scrolling time in small increments can be done if you mouse over the bottom portion of a trend. When doing this, your mouse cursor will change to a hand that can be used to drag the time range forward or backwards in time in small increments. The increment is determined by how far you drag. This functionality was introduced in the 2016 version.

  9. Provide a mode for symbols to auto fit to the screen

In PI coresight, adding a trend or an other symbol to the drawing area arranged it to fit the full drawing zone.
It was very convenient to make ad-hoc analysis.
The current design mode of PI Vision is good to design nice and welle positioned symbols.
Would it be possible to get those two modes available

The ad hoc workspace is meant to meet the quick ad-hoc analysis needs where the trend/table fit the full display area.

If there are specific parts of the previous PI Coresight functionality you would like to see, please add more details.

  10. Show a tooltip or change cursor Icon on Vision when hovering over Processbook Button

When hovering over a button on a ProcessBook display the cursor changes its shape to notify users that there is a button present. When importing the display over to Vision the cursor does not change and makes it difficult for users to know that a button is present when sharing the display with other users.

Suggest placing a tooltip or introducing a selection cursor when hovering over the button on Vision.

When hovering over a button on an imported PB display, the cursor changes icons to indicate the button is clickable.

If this is not the case for you, please contact TechSupport to investigate.

  11. Trending

    Trending Must Haves:

I recently installed PI Vision here and I am getting feedback about the trending capabilities, or the lack there of. Please fix the following in the trends

    1. The ability to click on values on a page and create an Ad-Hoc Trend. This is another major need.

    2. Need to add descriptors to trends

    3. MUST BE ABLE to un-zoom in a trend and keep your current place in time. For example if I have a 24 hour trend and I scroll back 10 days and then zoom in, when I un-zoom I still want to be back 10 days…

This request sounds like you would like to invert one data item on a trend symbol while keeping other data items non-inverted. This is possible by configuring the trace scale range to “Set limits for this trace” and “Invert Scale”.

  15. remove element relative from pi vision screens

Is there any option from admin to disable the element relative display from PI Vision screens?
We are facing issues even when we don’t change it or touch it. Sometimes it is changing automatically and without touching or selecting another element.
We are building PI Vision screens that contains several elements like Boiler 1,2,3,4,… that are using element templates and we need to show different boilers in the same trend and page. it is changing automatically the Asset Boilers and we have to remap them in our displays and again it will change automatically for some reason.
    Is there any…

The PI Vision development team has completed work to allow the configuration of related assets for displays in PI Vision 2017 R2, including the ability to disable the related assets selector on a display. Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 R2 to take advantage of this and other new features. You can read about what’s new in PI Vision 2017 R2 in the release announcement: https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/Releases/RL01278

  16. Multistate Text Blink Functionality

When multistate blink is configured for text, the text itself does not blink alone.  A box is generated to appear behind the text and blinks along with it.  Can there be an option to only have the text blink?

  17. Trend: Show data item descriptions

Be able to view the tag/attribute descriptions on the bottom of the trend the same way that you are able to in ProcessBook. For those of us with large DB, it is very important to have this functionality.

In PI Vision 2020, we added labeling options to the trend symbol (and other symbols) to show element/tag/attribute name, tag/attribute description, or custom text. This allows you to configure the trend legend to show data item descriptions.

For more information, see the PI Vision 2020 release announcement here:

If your feedback request includes the ability to change the positioning of the legend in the trend symbol, please subscribe to the feedback item here:

  19. Display hand when hovering over objects with Navigation Links

When hovering with the mouse over a display object that has a Navigation Link attached to it, the mouse cursor should change to a hand when not in edit mode and it should navigate on single-click instead of having to double-click.

In PI Vision 2019, navigation links are now more discoverable on a display. When hovering over a symbol with a navigation link, the mouse cursor will change to indicate that there is a link and the symbol’s tooltip will display the configured hyperlink.

Navigating is now done using a single-click instead of a double-click for all symbols except for the trend, where a double-click is still required so that single-click trend interactions (trend cursor, highlighting a trace) are still possible.

For additional information on PI Vision 2019 check out the release announcement here: https://customers.osisoft.com/s/knowledgearticle?knowledgeArticleUrl=kA01I0000007AdxSAE

  20. Trend: Vertical gridlines

Plots such as the pad trends, could benefit from grid lines to help quantify the changes over time.  The horizontal axis has decent grid definition between the grey and the black, but the lack of vertical axis makes it hard to compare day to day comparisons.
