  1. Restrict view of Events details after double-clicking on an Event frame in an Events table

As a PI Vision administrator, I would like to restrict or disable access to view Events details after double-clicking on an Event frame in an Events table on a PI Vision display for specific PI Vision users

  2. Have displays automatically inherit folder permissions

As a PI Vision admin, I would like displays to automatically inherit the permissions of their parent folder so that permissions are set automatically when users save displays to the appropriate folder.

Currently permissions for folders and displays are not tied together but they can be propagated manually using the 'Propagate permissions' checkbox in the Folder Settings dialog.

  3. Allow sharing access to data when sharing a display

When a user shares a display, give the option to allow them to share the data contained in the display (PI tags/AF elements and attributes) with the AF identities that the display is shared with.

  4. Allow users to request access to data

If a user doesn't have access to view the data associated with data items (tags/attributes) on a display, provide a way for them to be able to request access to the data.

  5. Prevent users from opening display if they don't have access to data

If a user does not have access to any of the data items (tags/attributes) on a display, they should not be able to open that display.

6. Change display sharing options for displays in a folder

If a display is in a folder, the list of identities with which the display can be shared will include all identities. However, the customer do not want to see all the Identities, only want to find all identities that the current user is a member of.

We are making this change in the upcoming release of PI Vision 2019 so that only users with write access to a folder will see the sharing option for that folder and the list of identities shown will be the identities that they are a member of in addition to the identities that the folder has already been shared with.

  7. Claims based authentication through Azure B2C instead of B2B

Currently PI Vision support claims based authentication through openid connect one of which is Azure b2b. However Azure B2B is not flexible when it comes to onboarding process. For this Azure B2C is a preffered option however the library's required are not natively support in PI Vision.

  8. Set Permissions for Root folder "Home"

As already implemented for subfolders, we would like to set permissions also on root folder "Home".

Use Case: We would like to make sure that only creation of new displays in subfolders is possible and not in home folder.

  10. Allow anonymous authentication to PI Vision

As a PI System Administrator, I want to allow read-only access to PI Vision for anonymous users so that my users do not need to log in on their mobile devices to view displays and data.

  11. Option to disable warning pop-up for trusted third-party sites

Add the option to whitelist certain domains from triggering the third-party warning pop-up. This could also be handled per session by end-users ("Remember my choice") instead of adding domains to a whitelist.

Current version of PI Vision has the dialog box hardcoded to trigger if a navigation link is not a link to another display.

This behavior is being changed for the PI Vision 2019 release so that there is no longer a pop-up warning when navigating to an external site. Instead the mouse cursor will change to indicate when a symbol is configured with a navigation link and a tooltip will show the navigation link URL.

  12. Increased Access Control for PI Vision Folders

The customer would like to prevent users with write access to PI Vision folders from being able to delete folders and sub-folders.

  13. Allow to modify a read-only display if I am the owner

As a owner of a display, i would like to be able to modify it even if it is marked as read-only.

Actually, I need to go on the main page, uncheck the read-only, edit the display, save it, and back to the home page again to modifiy to read-only again

  14. Hide or Show AF Templates in PI Vision based on identities

We have a TON of AF templates and not necessarily all of them will be used by our end users. It would be nice if there was a way to either view these templates by category or make them show/hide based on AF identities. Currently there is now way to hide a AF template in PI Vision without deleting it.

  15. Integration with customer enterprise ‘non-windows’ authentication system

A significant number of customers in my region are not using/don’t plan to adopt WIS as their authentication policy. As a result many of them are not using windows AD.

Customers need PI Vision to be more flexible: PI Vision pages can be integrated with their chosen SSO system, or at least don’t have to enter windows credentials when viewing a PI Vision page embedded into a Portal.

  19. Restrict user tag search of the PI Data Archive in PIVIsion

Ability to restrict Pi Vision users to use the PI Data Archive tag search when building displays.
There exists a feature to restrict user access to AF Databases in the PIVision\admin\UserSettings. However, there is no way to restrict PI Vision users from the PI Data Archive.
Or be able to rename the PI DA symbol in the search.

  20. Add the ability to hide the domain of a logged-on user

Provide administrators with the ability to hide or obscure the domain of users logged on to a Vision server (instead of domain\userID in the top right, it would just show userID).

Creating on behalf of a customer, for who the Vision server is hosted on an internal network but accessed externally. They wish to hide the internal domain for users outside the network.
