  1. Multistate: Copy Paste and Data Replacement Behaviors

Preserve color schemes for configured multistate symbols when copy/pasting and replacing data items.

Dropping a new value should change both the value and multistate value of the symbol.

The PI Vision development team completed work for the PI Vision 2017 release to preserve multi-state limit and color configurations when replacing the multi-state data source or copying and pasting a symbol.

  2. Fit All action should also be able to zoom in

The current version does not zoom in on the Fit-All action, only zoom out. So it only scales down, but not up. The Fit All feature in PI ProcessBook is doing both zoom in and out.

In PI Vision 2017 R2, the ‘Fit All’ behavior on displays was updated to enable zooming a display to fit the window.

  3. Shortcut to collapse all groups at once in the PIML Web Grid View

By default in the PI Manual Logger Grid view, all groups are displayed in the expanded state.  To minimize clutter on the screen, some users like to work with all groups collapsed except for the group they are currently working with.  To facilitate this workflow, it would be helpful to have a "Collapse all/Expand all" control to collapse or expand all groups at once in the grid view.

  4. Improve Handling of Excluded Attributes in Symbols

Currently, Symbols display "No Data" when an excluded attribute has been selected. This typically occurs when customers are navigating from one asset to another using the Switch Asset feature. This error can be confusing to the end user. In order to minimize confusion, a different approach should be taken such as not showing the symbol, showing N/A as a value for the symbol, or graying out symbol/values for excluded attributes.

The PI Vision 2017 R2 release included enhancements to symbols to better support excluded attributes. If attributes are flagged as “excluded” in an AF hierarchy, values will not be
displayed in the table symbol and asset comparison table in PI Vision. Other symbols
will display “N/A” for excluded attributes.

  5. Allow ?Asset= to use all the derived templates under a base template as correct matches

Attempting to use the parameters reference to reuse a display using the ?Asset= approach.

All my assets at one level are based on the the same template with a couple of them derived from that template.

This approach seems to require the template to be an exact match and not derived from the same template - is that the case?

It would be far more useful to me if I could build one display based on the "building dashboard" template and then use it on that template and all derived templates as they will have the same "base" attributes.

    Yes…

    COMPLETED  ·  Alicia Coppock responded

Enhancements to the Asset= parameter in PI Vision 2017 allow for the use of assets from derived templates of a PI Vision display. In addition, PI Vision 2017 R2 introduced the ability to configure the asset template, asset category or asset name filter used for the asset selector on a display.

  6. Specify a ProcessBook display using its name in the URL

Description: Customers would like to be able to directly access their ProcessBook displays in PI Coresight using a format that is not based on the internal display ID of the display. There are two known use cases for this. One is the case where a display is migrated through development and QA systems prior to going to the final production system. In this case, they would like to keep the same URL (or be able to predictably generate a URL) to access the display regardless of which state it is in. Another use case is for creating button links to…

This feature is available starting in PI Coresight 2015. Please see details on how to format the URL string in the PI Coresight Installation and Administration Guide.

  7. Multi-state color palette

I would like to be able to select custom HTML colors for Multi-state elements. The current color grid seems like it's locked down to 16 pre-determined colors.

  8. Gauge: Support many different types of gauges

Support several (~5-10) different types of good looking gauges within the application that have a variety of different visual treatments.

A configurable radial gauge will be included in PI Coresight 2016 R2. The gauge allows the configuration of pointer style, gauge angle, scale, multi-state, and color configuration.

Thank you for providing your feedback and helping us add the features you want to PI Coresight.

A number of configuration enhancements are included in PI Coresight 2016 R2. These enhancements include:
    - Set the min/max scale range for bar and radial gauges
    - Set the Y scale on a per data item basis on trends
    - Set the color, thickness, and line style for a trace line
    - Control the list order of data items in the legend
    - Set the foreground and background color for the trend

  10. Hide trace

Provide a user with the ability to hide a trace on trends. Basically the user can click on the trend legend (or a check box in the legend table - see other enhancement request) to show/hide the trace.

This functionality exists within process book, so basically replicate the same functionality in Coresight.

Traces can be hidden by right-clicking on the trace in the legend and choosing ‘Hide Trace’. This functionality was added in the 2016 version.

  11. Pop Up Trend from any symbol

Support seeing a pop up trend from any data symbol on a display from a double click/tap on the symbol (or other UI mechanism like right click context menu).

  13. Gauge Symbols with configurable areas

    Dear developers,

we are really missing the gauges as visualization element. It would be good to have them again in the next Version. Similar to the multistate Symbol it would be good to be able defining what is the Minimum and Maximum area.

    Best regards Kerstin Voss

  14. Table: Improvements

Be able to put symbols inside of table rows.

    Highlight table rows on mouse-over.

Drive other content on the page when a table row is selected. (connected symbols)

  15. PI Vision trend dynamic scales with attribute values

PI Vision trend should have dynamic scales according with the attribute values (limits).

This feature is available in PI Vision 2016 or later. It can be accomplished by leveraging dynamic AF attribute traits, which was introduced in PI Server 2016.

  16. Trend: Shared dynamic scales

For the Trend object I would like to select specific traces to share the same dynamic scale (range of plotted values) while other traces use independent scales.

    Example:
    Depth - Independent scale
Casing psi - share dynamic scale w/ Tubing psi
Tubing psi - share dynamic scale w/ Casing psi
Flow In Rate - share dynamic scale w/ Flow Out Rate
Flow Out Rate - share dynamic scale w/ Flow In Rate
    Alarm Indicator - Independent scale

This is achievable in PI Vision 2016 or later. When the ‘database’ option is selected for a trace’s scale range, if the attribute has Min and Max traits, the traits will automatically be used to define the scale of the trace. The traits can be dynamic. So if 2 traces are to share the same dynamic scale, simply reference their traits to one another. This feature requires PI (AF) Server 2016 or later.

  17. Value multistate in asset comparison table

Add the ability to add multistate to asset comparison table. This should utilize the limits attributes defined in system explorer similar to radial gauges and bar symbols. It could be the back ground or the value that multistates. This would be a great method to provide a dashboard of a large number of process values and quickly identify which values are out of a desired range.

  18. MultiState symbol with limit traits should show both the trait name and attribute name if they differ.

When user have renamed the limit trait attribute name (for example HiHi ->Critial Temperature) and uses the trait within a multistate symbol the trait name rather then the trait attribute name shows up for the mutlistate configuration, either both should show or allow for the user to chose which to see (or see by default). The limit trait attribute names does show within Coresight AF hierarchy, there should be an explicit relationship displayed associating the multistate intervals and the trait attribute names.

This behavior has been changed so that the attribute name is now what is shown in the configuration pane and the corresponding limit trait name is now shown in the tooltip if you hover over the attribute name that is shown.

  19. Symbol: Text Label

As a PI Coresight user I want to add labels (text) to my display so that it is easier to interpret the data being shown.

Also, as a PI Coresight user I want a label symbol to support a URL so that when I select it I navigate to other web content, including the ability to open other PI Coresight displays with pre-defined URL parameters.

Note: This was previously Enhancement 97825.
