  2. Add ability to search for AF Identities to share displays with

Instead of a scrolling list of checkboxes, it would be helpful to be able to search for specific AF Identities to share displays with.

Copying PI Vision symbols from one display to another is supported for displays on the same PI Vision server.

  4. Vision's search limitation on Asterisks and Spaces

Using multiple search phrases in Processbook or Datalink was simply separating items by an asterisk . . . "Phrase1Phrase2*"

Since Vision has Asterisks unable to match space characters the above search will return no results where there are any spaces between the phrases. The equivalent search phrase now must be "Phrase1 Phrase2".

This seems to be a step in the wrong direction on making searches more intuitive and easier, especially considering the YEARS of habit trained into people on proper search techniques within Processbook and Datalink. It also seems to be a very confusing state of…

In PI Vision 2020, a new search service was introduced that has a new experience. The default behavior searches for an exact match on text entered (accounting for spaces) at the beginning of search results, by adding an asterisk to the end of your search string. There is also a global setting on the PI Vision server that can be set that turns off all implicit asterisks.

For additional information on PI Vision 2020, please see the release announcement here:

  5. Document PI Coresight high availability behavior and support

Provide documentation to PI Coresight users which details to what level high availability is supported and utilized in the product.

PI Coresight 2016 includes a feature that allows a display owner to share a display with a specific group of users. Management of security groups is controlled by an Administrator using PI-AF identities (which can be tied to Active Directory groups). Group sharing applies to native PI Coresight displays and imported PI ProcessBook displays.

  7. PI Vision/Coresight displays on Microsoft Sharepoint

As a Microsoft Sharepoint user, I would like to have the ability to embed PI Vision/Coresight displays on Microsoft Sharepoint, the same way as PI Webparts used to be.

  10. Multistate gauge driven by other attribute than visible value

I want to have drive the multistate behaviour in a gauge from a different source than the visible value. The reason is that i have a calculation in AF that classifies a sampled value in a range of 1 to 5.
I want the 1-5 assessment to drive the multistate, not the tag value.

A configurable radial gauge will be included in PI Coresight 2016 R2. The gauge allows the configuration of pointer style, gauge angle, scale, multi-state, and color configuration.

Attribute limits can be configured in PI-AF to use a dynamic data reference or a fixed value. Attribute limits are automatically used by PI Coresight to configure multistate and scale limit values.

Thank you for providing your feedback and helping us add the features you want to PI Coresight.
    The PI Coresight Development Team.

  11. Multistate: Copy Paste and Data Replacement Behaviors

Preserve color schemes for configured multistate symbols when copy/pasting and replacing data items.

Dropping a new value should change both the value and multistate value of the symbol.

The PI Vision development team completed work for the PI Vision 2017 release to preserve multi-state limit and color configurations when replacing the multi-state data source or copying and pasting a symbol.

  12. Fit All action should also be able to zoom in

The current version does not zoom in on the Fit-All action, only zoom out. So it only scales down, but not up. The Fit All feature in PI ProcessBook is doing both zoom in and out.

In PI Vision 2017 R2, the ‘Fit All’ behavior on displays was updated to enable zooming a display to fit the window.

  13. Shortcut to collapse all groups at once in the PIML Web Grid View

By default in the PI Manual Logger Grid view, all groups are displayed in the expanded state.  To minimize clutter on the screen, some users like to work with all groups collapsed except for the group they are currently working with.  To facilitate this workflow, it would be helpful to have a "Collapse all/Expand all" control to collapse or expand all groups at once in the grid view.

Displays can be opened in full screen by appending the following parameters to the display URL:

    • HideToolbar
    • HideTimebar
    • HideSidebar

    For example:
    https://PIVisionServer/PIVision/#/Displays/3117/PowerAnalysis?HideToolbar&HideTimebar&HideSidebar

    For additional information please see:
    https://livelibrary.osisoft.com/LiveLibrary/content/en/vision-v3/GUID-246E9692-6C5B-47ED-B1F8-2A5568A9421B

HideToolbar and HideTimebar were introduced in the 2014 version. HideSidebar was introduced in the 2016 version.

  15. Change the data label / description for all symbols

Be able to change the label for data on any symbol on the display, similar to how the value symbol does which gives several contextual descriptions (like element|attribute, attribute, attribute's descripiton, etc) for the data or allows the user to specify a custom text.

In PI Vision 2020, we added labeling options to add element name, attribute name, description, or custom text as labels for trend, value, vertical gauge, horizontal gauge, and radial gauge symbols.

  17. Improve Handling of Excluded Attributes in Symbols

Currently, Symbols display "No Data" when an excluded attribute has been selected. This typically occurs when customers are navigating from one asset to another using the Switch Asset feature. This error can be confusing to the end user. In order to minimize confusion, a different approach should be taken such as not showing the symbol, showing N/A as a value for the symbol, or graying out symbol/values for excluded attributes.

    COMPLETED  ·  Alicia Coppock responded

The PI Vision 2017 R2 release included enhancements to symbols to better support excluded attributes. If attributes are flagged as “excluded” in an AF hierarchy, values will not be
displayed in the table symbol and asset comparison table in PI Vision. Other symbols
will display “N/A” for excluded attributes.

  18. Allow ?Asset= to use all the derived templates under a base template as correct matches

Attempting to use the parameters reference to reuse a display using the ?Asset= approach.

All my assets at one level are based on the the same template with a couple of them derived from that template.

This approach seems to require the template to be an exact match and not derived from the same template - is that the case?

It would be far more useful to me if I could build one display based on the "building dashboard" template and then use it on that template and all derived templates as they will have the same "base" attributes.

    Yes…

    COMPLETED  ·  Alicia Coppock responded

Enhancements to the Asset= parameter in PI Vision 2017 allow for the use of assets from derived templates of a PI Vision display. In addition, PI Vision 2017 R2 introduced the ability to configure the asset template, asset category or asset name filter used for the asset selector on a display.

  19. Allow PI Vision's Event Frame Search to work with collections and dynamic search criteria

I want to see if there is event frames for each attribute in a PI Vision collection. However as soon i am converting a single object to a collection it doesn't list any event frames.

I have been told this has been designed to work like that, but this functionality would be very useful for us.
