Have the ability to set Preferences / Default configuration options
Like in PI ProcessBook you could use the Preferences section to set the default configuration options, you need a way to set it in PI Coresight.
Maybe that could be part of the Administration page. There is a need to have the ability to set the default Trend symbol trace colors, default coloring of other symbols, default time bar time ranges (we should have the ability to define what choices we want to see as a company in the time bar selector), etc.

This functionality to set default display and symbol configuration is in development for the PI Vision 2022 release.
PI Vision administrators will have the ability to assign system-wide display and symbol configuration defaults. These default settings are applied only when the symbol or the display is first created.

PS - even if there is a 'hidden' configuration file where the color codes can be changed
(I know, you don't want us in there...still) -

Sounds similar to this request - should they be merged? This is a significant request as it would help facilitate use of corporate standards:

Strongly support being able to change the default time bar time ranges, so that these are more applicable to our business.

As a heavy PI user I would love to have some ability to establish some basic configuration related to my user. Specifically (pre-2020 release) setting up the screen or graph background to default to certain colors (I always lighten the color for use in documents and email which are commonly printed. With this new release, I would default the graph type and other settings I use for essentially every page I make.
I also agree with the initiator. I could imagine a company or a department standard. Operations uses very vivid colors with everything only on screen. Where engineering, putting displays into documents or for showing dynamic response with charts may tone down the graph so that the data stands out without eating the ink in the printer.

default colors and such settings aren't in a config file or akin somewhere? someone built the defaults into the base code? who allowed that to go into v1.0 ?

Thank you Gerrit for letting us know about the duplicates. I've gone ahead and merged these items.

I agree to this. This would be helpful for a lot of users.
In addition it seems to me that similar ideas here are not managed well.
For example I just found these two additional ideas with votings:https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517-pi-vision/suggestions/15760645-default-settings-for-users
@OSIsoft: I suggest to merge these (and potential additional ideas) and also adjust the vote-count of course.

Have got a request wherein PI Vision Administrators should be able to decide the default background colours for all new displays and also define multistate definition for each type of valve and other listed symbols.

It is a great idea to new feature to have. I needed to set a default timespan to all PI Vision Displays a few days ago.

I would also add colors for the lines in trends, etc.

Being able to set whether or not newly created trends default to single or multiple, even if it is a deployment wide setting would be a useful feature for administrators to control.

Symbols are created with the same initial configuration every time they are added to a display. For example, a table symbol is always created with the min and max columns enabled. Users should be able to define the default configuration options for each symbol.

Having set scale, as per data base setting, is a must to have interesting navigation & usage of them.

Having set scale, as per data base setting instead of default, would make the usage more attractive.

And also for the scale (e.g.: “Use Database range”)

I view dozen of plots every day. 99% of the time I have to change to Single Scale. Can you make the default for trends Single scale or make it a user preference.

Dear developers,
it would be good if each user would be able to define some default Settings for themselves, e.g. Background colours of Displays and colours used for elements. Most important would be the Definition of a default Multistate configuration, i.e. how many states should be divided, which colours should be used.
Best regards, Kerstin Voss
