  1. Ad hoc trend with multiple selected attributes

Build trend with multiple traces based on a display data (for instance, from a table). PI Vision user should be able to select multiple items on the table and then trend them on a single ad-hoc trend to compare. The ad-hoc trend should appear in a pop-up window (which you can move) in the same browser tab and the user should be able to switch between the main screen and the ah-hoc trend window to drag and drop more attributes from tables and value symbols on the screen. It's very important to see both ad-hoc trend and the main display…

PI Vision 2019 introduces new ad hoc trending capabilities that allow users to
quickly select data from across displays to add to an ad hoc workspace where you can analyze data and investigate issues.

For more information on this new functionality check out this video on our YouTube learning channel: https://youtu.be/rLu2E2qc8Ds

  2. Trend: Multiple Trend Cursors

As a process engineer, it is helpful to see values at several points of interest on a trend at the same time.

The PI Vision development team has implemented a setting for the Symbol URL parameter allowing multiple scales to be toggled on or off for ad-hoc trends in PI Vision 2017 R2. By default multiple scales will be shown, to use single scale instead add the parameter: Symbol=trend;MultipleScales=false

Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 R2 to take advantage of this and other new features. You can read about what’s new in PI Vision 2017 R2 in the release announcement: https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/Releases/RL01278

  4. Ability to change time when trending an individual attribute/tag value in a pop up trend

For a ProcessBook display published to Coresight, if a user selects single object - value, trend, multistate, etc - and double-clicks to bring up a full screen adhoc trend, the Coresight time controls are still at the bottom and can be used to control time range and move around in history.

If a user tries same in a native Coresight display - the time inherited in the popup trend is from the main display with no capability to modify.  The user must set the time slice in the main display before going to an adhoc trend.

The PI Vision development team completed work on a new Pinned Events feature in PI Vision 2017 that allows one or more reference events to be specified and saved on an Event Comparison display. Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 to take advantage of this and other key new features. You can read about the key new features released in PI Vision 2017 in our release announcement here: https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/Releases/RL01216

  6. Make popup trend show value and traits on the same scale

If I double-click on a multistate symbol, I get an ad-hoc display showing the value and all it's thresholds. This is great except that the trend is multi-scale, which makes the threshold lines useless. If an ad-hoc trend is showing a values and its limits, they should all share the same scale (and possibly be differentiated by line-style or colour intensity instead of colour hue)

  7. The ability to plot individual sparklines from a table

Currently if you try to plot a sparkline from a large table you get all the lines not the one you have selected.

It would be more convenient if:
    Users can select certain row(s) in the table and pop out an ad hoc trend for those data items only;
Or enable users to hide / show traces in the ad-hoc trend.

Single-clicking on a sparkline in a table will open a popup trend containing only the data item in that row of the table. Double-clicking in another column of the table will also bring up a popup trend for that row’s data item.

In the popup trend (and for trends on displays), traces can be hidden by right-clicking and choosing Hide Trace.

In PI Vision 2019, traces can be hidden and shown with a single-click in both the popup trend and in the new ad hoc workspace using the checkbox contained in the table that is present in both of these areas.
