Offline Display Management: Allow PI Vision displays to be imported and exported
There is a need to be able to export and import PI Vision displays so that displays can be managed offline. This would allow transferring displays between systems that are not connected, taking backups of displays, versioning displays, sharing displays with customers, vendors, and third-parties, etc.
443 votesPI Vision 2021 introduces new capabilities that allow PI Vision displays to be exported to and imported from an offline PI Vision display file.

Create Display Folders & Manage User Access with Folders
Have the ability to create folders for displays as a way to organize them. Be able to add and delete displays from the folders. Manage user access to displays (read vs read/write) by the folders.
156 votesThe PI Vision development team has completed work on display folders in PI Vision 2017 R2. Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 R2 to take advantage of this and other key new features. You can read about what’s new in PI Vision 2017 R2 in the release announcement: https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/Releases/RL01278

Increase the update rate of data in PI Vision displays
As a PI Vision user I would like to be able to increase the update rate of PI Vision displays to less than 5 seconds and even sub-seconds so I can use it for trending.
41 votesIn PI Vision 2020, the update rate is now configurable on the PI Vision Server to set to integer values as small as 1 second.

Migrating Folder Structure Between PI Vision Environments with the PI Vision Display Utility
As of right now, there is no easy way to copy the folder structure. It would either have to be recreated manually or the entire database restored via a backup.
If the PI Vision Display Utility could also migrate the folder structure it would be a big help for users and administrators.
32 votesPI Vision 2021 introduced new capabilities that allow PI Vision displays to be copied between PI Servers while persisting the source folder structure.

Allow display sharing to any AF identity for Administrators
Currently limited to AF identities that my useraccount is explicitly part of. However, any Coresight admin should be allowed to share displays to any AF identity.
Now as an Admin, i need to reassign display ownership to a specific person in a group (AF identity) and ask them to share the display. Not ideal for central authoring of displays.
25 votesIn PI Vision 2017 R2, the PI Vision home page was updated to allow administrators to share a display with any identity.

20 votesA number of configuration enhancements are included in PI Coresight 2016 R2. These enhancements include:
- Set the min/max scale for gauges and trends
- Set the Y scale on a trend on a per data item basis
- Set the color, thickness, and line style for a trace line
- Control the list order of data items in the legend
- Set the foreground and background color for the trend -
Coresight Subfolder for PDI Files
Create subfolders for PDI files
19 votesPI Vision supports subfolders for imported PI ProcessBook displays. Subfolders are managed in the Windows directory under the root Import Folder. See more details in documentation on how to configure the Import Folder:
-
Rename coresight display names
Coresight display rename
6 votesSince PI Vision 2016, you can rename a PI Vision display by opening the display, clicking the display name, and entering a new name.
-
MultiState symbol with limit traits should show both the trait name and attribute name if they differ.
When user have renamed the limit trait attribute name (for example HiHi ->Critial Temperature) and uses the trait within a multistate symbol the trait name rather then the trait attribute name shows up for the mutlistate configuration, either both should show or allow for the user to chose which to see (or see by default). The limit trait attribute names does show within Coresight AF hierarchy, there should be an explicit relationship displayed associating the multistate intervals and the trait attribute names.
6 votesThis behavior has been changed so that the attribute name is now what is shown in the configuration pane and the corresponding limit trait name is now shown in the tooltip if you hover over the attribute name that is shown.
-
Decimals Multi-State
Multi-State should allow decimal numbers in the limits.
3 votesDecimal values for multistate limits are supported starting in the 2016 version.
-
Allow combining processbook and native PI Vision folders
Allow combining ProcessBook folders and native Processbook folders (i.e procbook displays and native pi vision displays will reside in one folder); allow building hierarchies using both types of folders at the same time
3 votesThis is supported in PI Vision 2017 R2. Native PI Vision displays can be created in the same folder containing ProcessBook displays. Because the ProcessBook display folder structure is created and managed based on the Windows file system, ProcessBook displays cannot be moved within the PI Vision app, but PI Vision displays can be moved to ProcessBook folders from within the app.
-
Multistate Attribute action from Static Attribute
Multistate Attribute acts from PI Points only, add static Attribute that are based from Analysis and Formulas
3 votesPI Vision allows you to multistate value symbols that are from non-PI Point data references such as Formulas.

multistate color
Multistate: Change text color
In multistate, we are able to change background color.
We would like to be able to change text (letters, words) colors for text and value symbols with multistate.2 votesThis feature was added in PI Vision 2020 which released in October 2020. For additional information on PI Vision 2020, please see the release announcement here:

Ability to schedule emails of Vision displays - End of shift reports and such
Ability to print and email displays as they appear on the screen along with a report scheduler to trigger scheduled report via email to users.
Basically a replacement for the ePub functionality for Process book.2 votesThis is possible with the use of notifications and the ability to have PI Vision screenshots in the notifications email. You can configure your notification based on your shifts and have a scheduled email with a PI Vision display screenshot.

Add the value description when selecting a certain point on a graph and not just have a color coordinated box around the value
Display item description next to value when selecting a certain time on a graph. Even though the box around the value is color coordinated with the item description, it is difficult to distinguish some colors
2 votesIn PI Vision 2020, we added additional labeling options for data items in multiple symbols including trend to allow you to show description instead of data item name.

Option to set variable trend display times for different trends on a single display page
I need to be able to see a summary page with various trends, however some of them I would like to see at different trend durations. For example, I would like to see most trends at a one month interval. However, for another trend where the data is only taken monthly I need to see it on a yearly interval to see a trend. Or for another trend that I care about long term process creep I would like to see at 90 days.
1 votePI Vision 2020, released in Q4 2020, allows you have trends in one display with multiple time contexts. So you can have one trend that shows a one month duration while another trend shows a one year duration.

Not all publishers get folder modification access
Although user is set up as publisher, does not get the ability to modify folders or move graphics to folders. Only the "Administrator" named user gets this capability.
1 voteIn order to modify folders or move displays to folders a user must have write access to that folder. It is only the root level (under Home) that can only be controlled by PI Vision administrators. Once an Admin creates root folders, they can assign write access to the appropriate AF identities and then the members of those identities will be able to modify the folders.
Here’s some more information on folder permissions in case it is helpful: https://livelibrary.osisoft.com/LiveLibrary/content/en/vision-v2/GUID-947EDD0E-DC0B-40AC-A0C5-3E554E27E445

Trace autoscaling and removal within trend
add ability to rescale traces in trends and take off traces and add back in trends to better explore data
1 voteThis functionality is currently available in PI Vision trends. You are able to right click on the data item in the trend legend and hide the trace. If your trend is set to a non-custom scale range, the scale range will auto-update when traces are added/removed.

multiscale: fix scale manually
Hello,
When I switch to "multiple scale" there is no possibility to add the values per scale manually!
1 voteIn PI Vision, it’s possible to adjust the scale minimum and maximum values whether you’re using single or multiple scales. When multiple scales are enabled, you can see a unique scale for each trace on the trend. You can manually adjust the scale for each trace in the “Trace Options” within the Trend Format configuration pane.
