  1. Manually Enter Event (EF) Attributes (like a Reason Code)

I'd like to manually enter data into event (event frame) attributes from PI Coresight.  The most common example of this are attributes such as a Reason Code for an excursion or downtime event, but there are other examples as well.

The PI Vision development team has completed work to allow users to edit the value of Event Frame reason attributes (based on the new Reason attribute trait in PI AF 2017 R2) on the Event Table and Event Details page in PI Vision 2017 R2. Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 R2 to take advantage of this and other new features. You can read about what’s new in PI Vision 2017 R2 in the release announcement: https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/Releases/RL01278

  2. PI Manual Logger: Option for Web App to default to Grid View

In PI Manual Logger Web, there is a Grid Data Entry view, and a List Data Entry view.  The current default is the List view.  However, many users only use the Grid view.  It would be nice to have an option, such as a url parameter, that has a Tour Run default to the Grid view.

A number of trend configuration enhancements will be included in PI Coresight 2016 R2. These enhancements include:
    - Set the Y scale on a per data item basis
    - Set the color, thickness, and line style for a trace line
    - Control the list order of data items in the legend
    - Set the foreground and background color for the trend

Thank you for providing your feedback and helping us add the features you want to PI Coresight.
    The PI Coresight Development Team.

  4. Dynamic Collection Criteria Search Root

I would like to be able to dynamically change my collection criteria search root, based on the drop-down asset, so that the collection is element relative. This way, I don't have to create multiple collection displays.

  5. Assign Displays to Groups of Users

Be able to restrict read access of displays to a group of users.

Provide ability to be able to create display groups in PI Coresight
Provide ability to be able to assign displays to groups.
Provide ability for admin to be able to remove groups, or modify displays contained within groups.

Note: This was previously Enhancement 82110.

PI Coresight 2016 includes a feature that allows a display owner to share a display with a specific group of users. Management of security groups is controlled by an Administrator using PI-AF identities (which can be tied to Active Directory groups). Group sharing applies to native PI Coresight displays and imported PI ProcessBook displays.

  6. Select which Template is used for Switch Asset

When using Element Relative Display and Switch Asset, allow for selecting which Template of the current Asset is used for searching when is using templates that are derived from other templates.

The current search appears to only be based on the most derived Template but the display may be valid for a common base template shared by different types of assets.

A dropdown could be shown in the Switch Asset selector when the current asset is using derived templates to help filter.

  7. View Read-Only Access for Coresight users

Allow a PI Coresight Admin to provide viewing (read-only) access to a subset of users. These users will not have the ability to save new displays.

An example might be a university where they would like to give students viewing read-only access to displays available in the system.

    ===
Note that this request is different than a kiosk mode which does limit creation of new displays, but does not allow a user to search for data items, perform ad hoc creation of symbols, and does not enable navigation from the displays page.

Note: This was previously Enhancement 106679.

The PI Vision development team has released a new Explorer user type in PI Vision 2017. Explorer users can view and manipulate existing displays and create ad-hoc displays for investigation, but cannot save displays. Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 to take advantage of this and other new features. The PI Vision development team has completed work on mutliple symbol selection and grouping in PI Vision 2017. In design mode, you can click and drag to select multiple symbols on a display and then group them so they can be moved and copied together. Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 to take advantage of this and other new features. 10. Trending

    Trending Must Haves:

I recently installed PI Vision here and I am getting feedback about the trending capabilities, or the lack there of. Please fix the following in the trends

    1. The ability to click on values on a page and create an Ad-Hoc Trend. This is another major need.

    2. Need to add descriptors to trends

    3. MUST BE ABLE to un-zoom in a trend and keep your current place in time. For example if I have a 24 hour trend and I scroll back 10 days and then zoom in, when I un-zoom I still want to be…

A few of the items mentioned in this request have been completed, and others are being tracked separately so I have closed this item. Please see links below to the related requests:

    1. This feature has been added in PI Vision 2019: https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517-pi-vision/suggestions/19529974

    2. This request is being tracked by this item: https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517-pi-vision/suggestions/19734682

    3. This is possible on trends in displays by undo-ing the trend zoom action with Ctrl+Z. Undo functionality was added to popup trends in PI Vision 2019: https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517/suggestions/16052407

    4. This functionality has been added in PI Vision 2019: https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517/suggestions/18710188

  11. Make XY-Plot available for collections

Most symbols can be dynamically organized into collections, which is very handy for comparing assets of different sites, where the number of assets vary.
The XY-Plot does not support this function at the moment.

  12. Use AF attribute traits to set symbol scale or limits

As a PI Vision user, I would like to have the option to set the scale or limits of any symbol based on the attribute traits defined in AF. When the symbol contains multiple attributes, it would be useful to be able to select only one attribute to define the scale of the symbol.

PI Vision currently supports this functionality. When the ‘database’ option is selected for a symbol scale, if the attribute has Min and Max traits, the traits will automatically be used to define the scale on the PI Vision symbol.

  13. URL Parameter to configure value scale

Add scale mode to the URL parameters to allow for pre-selection of single or multiple scales.

The PI Vision development team has implemented a setting for the Symbol URL parameter allowing multiple scales to be toggled on or off for ad-hoc trends in PI Vision 2017 R2. By default multiple scales will be shown, to use single scale instead add the parameter: Symbol=trend;MultipleScales=false

Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 R2 to take advantage of this and other new features. You can read about what’s new in PI Vision 2017 R2 in the release announcement: https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/Releases/RL01278

  14. Make any Coresight object a link

Make any Coresight object a link. Rather than only be able to navigate using buttons, it would be nice for style/intuitive use to be able to make a text label a link, or a rectangle/circle/etc.

The PI Vision development team has completed work on Drill-in Navigation in PI Vision 2017 that enables linking to a URL or another PI Vision display from any symbol on a display with options to pass the asset context of the selected symbol and the time range of the display. Upgrade to PI Vision 2017 to take advantage of this and other key new features. 15. Export display to CSV file

Ability to export data from the screen to CSV file.
It's important to generate the file in CSV format rather than XML for multiple reasons:
    1. It is what the engineers expect
    2. It opens in Excel by default (the XML file opens great in Excel, but the default program is the web browser)
    3. It is supported by other engineering applications

We'd like to see some enhancements for the format of the data in the exported data file.
The first "Display" tab is fine in the current version (it compares interpolated data for multiple data sources at specific time…

  16. Busy Indicator

It would be useful to have an indication that the data is still being loaded. Currently when you add an attribute to the display, change the time range of a display, execute a dynamic search, etc you don't get an indication that something is happening. Some of our operations are quite far away with limited bandwidth.

  17. Allow display sharing to any AF identity for Administrators

Currently limited to AF identities that my useraccount is explicitly part of. However, any Coresight admin should be allowed to share displays to any AF identity.

Now as an Admin, i need to reassign display ownership to a specific person in a group (AF identity) and ask them to share the display. Not ideal for central authoring of displays.

  18. Table: Allow single value trend

As now if you click on a single row in a table that has multiple values, all values will show in the new trend.
It would be prefferable if only one value or selected valus would show up.

  19. Multistate Configuration should show the values defined for the limits besides the traits (Maximum, HiHi, Hi, Lo, etc..).

For multistate configuration with AF limits, the customer would like to see the values defined for the limits besides the traits (Maximum, HiHi, Hi, Lo, etc..).

In previous versions the limit trait values were shown in the tooltip if you hovered over the name shown for the limit. In PI Vision 2017 R2 we changed this so that the value is shown in the configuration pane under the name of the limit attribute trait so that you do not need to hover to see these values.
