  1. Monitoring Connector health

Support for health tags (similar to UniInt health tags), Windows performance counters, or any other way to bring Connector status and health information into PI tags to put them side-by-side with Interface health monitoring.

  2. Output tags on connectors

Sometimes we need to send data back to our sources. Connectors should support output tags

OSIsoft does not plan to incorporate bi-directional data flow within the Connector Framework. The PI System plays a vital role in our customers’ process and business workflows, and uni-directional data flow from the data source to the PI System helps maintain the integrity and security of our customers’ operations.

  3. PI Connector for IEC 60870-5-104 bi-directional between SCADA and PI

    RWE Power AG

“But one really important feature we need, is the ability to write back from PI into the SCADA system
Until now, we couldn’t find anything about this (important) functionality.
So our question is if we can use this connector bi-directional?
And if not, is this already in the roadmap for this connector?”

  4. Failover for PI Connector Relay

Although, the PI Connector Relay going down / not being available does not cause data loss since the connector data is buffered, if the source connector supports Failover, the relay becomes the only single point of failure in the data flow.

Having an HA option for the PI Relay would allow for a more robust architecture.

  5. OMF Support PI Connector Relay

Keep the OMF support in PI Connector Relay, also add the new OMF Versions to it not just only OMF 1.0. Not just leave the OMF support to the PI WebAPI. In many customer scenarios, the PI Connector relay is an easier solution than PI WebAPI.

There are no plans to support the OMF Ingress capabilities of the PI Connector Relay long-term. PI Web API represents the current and future method for OMF Ingress into the PI System

  6. Support Failover at the data source level

For PI Connector (1.x) that support failover like OPC UA, failover will only occur when all data sources get into a bad state. Failover should not have to be configure at the PI Connector node level, but for each data source.

    Use case 1:
    If 3 connectors are installed:
-ConnectorA can connect to OPC1 and OPC2
-ConnectorB can connect to OPC1 and OPC3
-ConnectorC can connect to OPC2 and OPC3
Impossible to configure failover with the current implementation

    Use case 2:
-ConnectorA has 5 data sources and is primary
-ConnectorB has 5 data sources and is backup
    If 4/5 data…
