  1. PI Buffer subsystem - management tool + robustness improvement

    1. Having the capability of acknowledging the message in the PI Buffer GUI and removing the "red flag" when messages acknoledged.

    2. Having the Buffer updated automatically when a tag is renamed, without having to restart the buffer.

  2. Add Mod10 to Custom Data Type Manipulator for Modbus Interface

Please add support for SquareD Mod10 custom datatype to the Modbus Interface.

Schneider Electric uses a custom datatype that uses four 16 bit registers. Each register represents an integer. Each integer is then multiplied by a factor and all results are added together.
Currently the only way I know how to read this is to create a PI modbus point for each register value, then create a calculated PI point to perform the math to add them together. All the values are in consecutive registers, so they could be read with one call to the device, if there were a…

  3. Parameter for restarting the interface if no connection to the OPC server can be established after a defined period of time

We use the Phoenix Contact Firewall with the OPC Inspector. When the OPC server restarts or breaks the connection for a few seconds, the firewall blocks all ports except port 135. After initial connection through this port, new firewall rules are dynamically established for DCOM connections. If connection break to OPC Server we have to restart interface manually.

  4. PI UFL Interface can read input files from non-UNC paths such as Azure File share

I would like the PI UFL Interface to be able to directly read from input files that are in non-UNC paths such as Azure File share, so I do not need to periodically copy the input files into another path.

  5. UNIINT Interfaces and Connectors should be able to retry an output event if output write fails

When an interface fails writing to a DCS system, the interface writes a failure status to the output tag and goes on.  User has requested an option to have an output tag retry after write failure. It would be good to have this functionality in all uniint interfaces as they are recompiled, starting with the OPC DA interface, also to have this added to PI Connectors. Retries could stop after x retries of 1 minute retries, or when a new output value comes in. Or some other policy could be worked out.

  6. PI-SNMPTrap interface request support for SNMPv3 trap

PI-SNMPTrap interface currently only has support for SNMPv1 and SNMPv2C trap. Feature request for PI-SNMPTrap interface to include support for SNMPv3 trap.

Monitoring of snmp traps originating from CISCO switch devices require support for SNMPv3 trap.

  7. PI PerfMon tags to support Timestamp DataType

There are some performance counters that are Date and Time based.

PI PerfMon tags have to be configured as Float32 or Int32 and at PI AF it has to be converted by using PI Analysis or Formulas. Would be easier to configure, maintenance and to build reports if there is a direct way.

  8. Allow Tag Template Triggers to trigger on blank placeholders

Currently, Batch Interface Framework interfaces implement tag template triggers that can trigger whenever a placeholder has any value. These interfaces should also support triggering when a placeholder does not have a value. For example, our SISBatch data source has separate columns for Operation and Phase information. We would like to record the value of the [DESCRIPT] column in a tag only for non-phase batch events (i.e. trigger the tag template only when the [PHASE] placeholder is blank).

  10. Convert incoming string data to float and provide division all in the same tag instead of a PE

OPC server is outputting data with the currency data type (VT_CY) and it needs to be stored in the float type.  As per the OPCtoCSV document, the OPCtoCSV tool/OPC interface invokes VariantChangeType in order to convert this currency value to it's string representation before PI receives it.

"Some OPC servers have property values that are type VTCY. The VTCY type is intended to represent monetary values. A VTCY value is a fixed-point number with four digits after an implied decimal point that is scaled and stored as a 64-bit integer. When VariantChangeType converts a VTCY value…

  11. PI ICU should not allow PItoPI COLD failover configuration

As of version 3.8.1 COLD failover is no longer supported by the PI to PI Interface (https://techsupport.osisoft.com/Troubleshooting/Enhancements/19255OSI8). However, the PI Interface configuration utility still allows COLD failover to be selected. This leads to an invalid configuration and the interface refuses to start.

PI ICU should not allow the selection of COLD failover as it does not allow HOT failover, both of which are not supported by the interface.

  13. DNP3: handle invalid timestamps from the RTU

If the RTU provides a timestamp of 0 when using RTU provided timestamps, which does not conform to the DNP3 spec, allow the option to timestamp the event with PI time or drop the event altogether.

Note: This was previously Enhancement 123208.

  14. PI OPCtoCSV tool to continue running and skip branches in error

The PI Interface for OPC DA is packaged with the PI OPCtoCSV tool which extracts all OPC Items. When the tool is run into error with certain branches, the tool will stop and disconnected from the OPC server/tunneller. For example: “GetItemProperties(“xxx”) error 0x800706be. The remote procedure call failed. pEnumleaves  Next() returned 0x800706ba”
If we could specify an option for the tool to skip those branches in error and also attempt to reconnect to the OPC server/tunneller, for automation purpose for the tool to continue running instead of exiting.

  15. Request for customizing the order of the interface instances in PI ICU interface list.

The interface instancesnames contain the plantsnames and I want to put the interfaces with the same plant name together in the list.

  16. Allow scan class 0 to be monitored via Performance Counters

As a PI System Administrator, I would like to monitor the point count and other parameters for scan class 0 via Performance Counters. Currently, this is only exposed via the UniInt Health Tags.

  17. Create a migration path for AMI Interfaces when PI Server is moved to a new machine/hostname

Currently, AMI Interfaces require a rebuild of the AMI cache files when the PI Server is migrated to a new machine/hostname (Although to clarify if the hostname does not change during the PI Server migration the cache does not need to be rebuilt). This is undesirable for large AMI implementations as rebuilding the cache files can be a time consuming process.

It is requested that AMI Interfaces should be able to handle PI Server migrations with new hostnames without rebuilding the AMI cache files

  18. Add a configuration option to UniInt so that the user can adjust the minimum wait time for checking for new events from the Update Manager

This affects the delay in Event\Trigger tags. KCS: Delay in Event Points.

The largest and most variable delay seems to come from the time the event is written to the PI Server and the time the interface (UniInt) picks, which is between 0ms-1,000ms from my testing. This seems to be due to a built-in, hard-coded, delay in how often UniInt checks for events from the PI Server update manager. The serviceeventsx function that is part of the main UniInt loop only checks for new events once a second; this means that sometimes there is no delay if the…

  19. Add a configuration option to the OPC DA Interface so that the user can adjust the maximum advise tag exception delay for Event/Trigger tags

This affect to delay in Event\Trigger points. KCS: Delay in Event Points.

When using Event Points, we purposefully do have a delay (if excMax is > 2 s then 2 s else 0.9*excMax) for advise tags (Trigger Point) before they're sent to the PI Server if the event value has not changed since the last scan.

  20. Improve the recovery process for long EFGEN batches

Currently if EFGEN is configured to evaluate PI Points at the event end, long batches require recovery start time to be set before the start of the batch. This leads to a long recovery process as many completed batches will be evaluated again.
