  2. Allow inline posting of images

Just like it was possible with the Jive platform, supporting in-line pasting of images is very important both in 'Questions' and blog posts.

  3. When viewing a question on its own page, expand long comments by default

Currently, from the home page, we can view questions on a separate page by clicking on the time that the question was posted. When we do this, I feel that long comments should be expanded by default. That is, we should never see the option to "Expand Post". The option to show "More answers" when there are many comments is fine, though.

  4. Can we please also get Syntax Highlighting for blog posts?

I was under the impression that Syntax Highlighting is a general feature and now learn that blog posts don't have it because "blog" is an adopted child.
Can we please treat "blog" like the rest of the family?

  5. Enable compact view for lists of discussions (e.g., Recent Activity, Unanswered Questions, My Feed)

When viewing a list of posts (e.g., Recent Activity on the Home page), each entry shows the title plus a block of text plus tags plus response buttons making for a lot of scrolling. Is there a way to collapse this to a more compact list view similar to the old PI Square front page? The more compact view makes it easier to quickly peruse the list for items of interest.

  6. Better use of white space on PI Square

The PI Square feed appears to be portrait formatted, leaving a lot of white space left and right hand side, especially when using a wide screen monitor. As a result we often see undesired line breaks killing our attempts to create nice looking posts.
PI Square should recognize the amount of horizontal pixels available and make use of them. Attached screenshot illustrates the problem.

  7. Enable links to specific comments in a discussion

In the old PI Square, there were direct links to each post in discussion thread, which was handy for (at least) the following three use cases:
    1. Alerts (email or on the site) for new posts on a discussion took you directly to the new post.
    2. Alerts (email or on the site) that you were @mentioned in a post took you directly to that post.
    3. Ability to reference a particular post that contains the information of interest (e.g., sending a link to customer or coworker to help with a particular issue).
The three use cases above are particularly…

  8. Better support for tables in blog posts

Tables are a great way to organize information and I've used them in nearly every blog post. However, on the new PI Square, tables must be copied and pasted from elsewhere (e.g. Excel) and they lose all borders, hyperlinks, and cell fill colours. Content within the table can be edited, but if the author wants to insert, delete, or rearrange any rows or columns, they must make these changes elsewhere and then replace the table in the blog post.

Basically, it is impractical to use tables, which greatly limits the types of blog posts that can be written. Please have…

  9. Be able to hide the "Getting Started with the Community" pane

This pane appears on a person's own profile and is needed only when the person is new to the new PI Square. After that, it is a waste of visual space. Arguably, if the pane never existed, I think that users learn just fine on their own how to use the new website.

Please give us the option to hide the "Getting Started with the Community" pane.

  10. Allow blog posts to be deleted

Currently, for blog posts that are created on the new PI Square, the closest that you can get to deleting a blog post is to delete the content within the blog post, restrict the audience, and archive the blog post or set it to publish in the far future, but you cannot delete the blog post itself or permanently restrict access to a blog post.

Blog posts that were migrated from the old PI Square cannot be edited or deleted at all. Since migrated posts are not always faithful to the original, a user might want to rewrite a migrated…

  11. Explain the difference between each type of blog post audience

When you write a blog post on the new PI Square, you are presented with these options in the "Audience" dropdown menu:
    • All
    • Authenticated User
    • Community
    • Customer
    • Guest
    • Internal

However, it is not clear what each option means. Please make this clearer. Additionally, they are currently listed in alphabetical order, but they should instead be listed in order of privacy.

  12. Allow attachments in blog posts

The closest thing to an attachment that blog posts have is the ability to upload a single featured photo. The current workaround is to attach the attachment in a comment on the blog post or upload the file to the cloud and link to it. Attachments are especially important for blog posts that center around sharing some useful file(s) (e.g. scripts, spreadsheets). Please allow us to add attachments to blog posts.

  13. Wrap long blog post titles

Currently, if you are viewing a blog post that has a long title, the part of the title that does not fit on the title line will be replaced with "…". Instead, please wrap the part that does not fit onto a new line. Blog post titles have a character limit, so you don't need to worry about a title spanning too many lines.

An example of a blog post with a long title:

  14. Be able to add alt text to images

This is important for users that rely on screen readers. Alt text not only allows these users to experience the image through its description, but it also hides the description from those that can clearly see the image.

The old PI Square had good support for alt text. Please add support for alt text to the new PI Square.

  15. Notify users when they receive a message

Notification upon receipt of a message has been standard since at least the says of raising a flag on a mailbox, but PI Square doesn't do this. You need to either look at the "Recent Messages" section of your profile or click on your picture in the top right corner and go to "My Messages".

Within PI Square, please notify users when they receive a message from someone.

  16. Notify users when someone replies to their comment

So far, I've gotten notifications whenever someone mentions me or whenever someone comments on one of my questions, whether the comment is directly in response to the question or a reply to another comment.

However, I don't get a notification when someone replies to my comment on someone else's question without mentioning me. Please send a notification in this case. It is better to slightly over-notify than to slightly under-notify, since it is much faster to dismiss an unimportant notification than to check whether a particular post has been replied to or not.

Also, if such a comment mentions me,…

  17. make PISquare new interface readable

currently posts are impossible to read.
    1. can't find the right answer (the first one liste generally is not the first one)
    2. seems like some answers are missing (someone is answearing to someone's answer that's not there)
    3. 4th level answers width is so small that long answers are impossible to read.

  18. Remove the exclamation mark beside your rank on the Topics leaderboard

On the page of any topic (topics are listed here: https://pisquare.osisoft.com/s/topiccatalog), you can see your rank at the bottom of the leaderboard in the format "Your rank: 51!".

This can trip up the math and computer science nerds, who will initially read "51!" as "51 factorial" and then realize that the "!" just signifies excitement. To the less nerdy, the "!" doesn't add much value, so overall, the "!" hurts more than it helps. For greater clarity, please remove the "!".

  19. Be able to view who liked a blog post

You can view who upvoted a reply to a question or liked a comment on a blog post, but you cannot view who liked a blog post.

In the first 2 cases, the upvote/like counter is separate from the button that lets you upvote/like, and you can click on the counter to view who upvoted/liked the reply/comment.

However, for blog posts, the like counter is part of the like button. Please separate the like counter from the like button so that we can click on the like counter to view who liked a blog post. This will also make the…

  20. Be able to mention people with @ in blog posts

The @ mentions currently work only in comments but not in blog posts. Please make them work in blog posts as well.
