  1. Make it easier to find products in the customer portal

    Finding products is a real pain. It would be much easier if you were to let me search for products first, then show me where they are licensed in the sites/servers that I belong to, and in the same screen show me if the licenses are current. Right now, I have to know the PI Server number to do anything, and I have ot know where a product is related to a PI Server number.

  2. Highlight expired licenses

    To create a case or download software, you must pick a specific license. It is currently not clear from the Products Page or the Technical Case Creation page which licenses have expired SRP. It would be nice to have a visual indicator of the SRP status of each license

  3. Software download window needs redesigned

    The window to download software does not work well. I struggle to even reach the check box for license agreement and the button to start the download. I don't know if it scaling or what, but it was almost unusable.

  4. Segment access to PI Client software downloads

    It would be helpful to provide users access to download PI Client software without also giving them access to download PI Server software.

    We would like to hear from you about the use cases for this request.

    Currently, only a “Super User” or an “Admin” can generate a PI Server License file. “Download User” cannot.

    “Download User” can download all software and files (including the PI Server exe), but with no ability to generate the required PI Server License file (see this KB Article for details on portal profile permissions: https://customers.osisoft.com/s/knowledgearticle?knowledgeArticleUrl=What-is-a-Customer-Portal-user-profile) .

    Without the ability to generate a PI Server license file, the Download User cannot install a new instance of the PI Server. Does that satisfy the request?

  5. Add a visual indicator for permissions denied due to the user's profile

    By definition, Support and Download users do not have permissions to generate PI Server licenses on the Customer Portal, but it is not apparent from the grayed-out license generation button that it is due to permissions. Similarly, Support Users see a lack of product install kits. This leads to some users thinking something is wrong with the portal as opposed to thinking it is permissions. It would be nice if there were an indicator or hover text such as "Your profile <profile> does not have license generation permission. Please contact your Admin User, noted on the My Profile > My…

  6. Provide Release Notes that consolidate all past product changes

    When assessing upgrades, we look at product enhancements found in the Release Notes. This proves difficult when the Release Notes only mention the product enhancements for the adjacent product releases and we are upgrading from an older version not mentioned in the release notes. Because of this, there should be a consolidated Release Notes for each product that covers all the past versions.

  7. Can I see known issues for a particular version of a software?

    As a PI Adminstrator for a system that is expensive to upgrade (requires revalidation), can I understand known issues with a particular version of software so that I can see if I should upgrade that version? The current version of the protal doesn't show issues for a specific release version.

  8. Make default site under "Products" tab the primary site configured for the User Account

    EA customers often have a large list of associated sites. For EA customers the primary site they use to view available software is the "EA Virtual Site" which houses all OSIsoft standard software for download in one central place.

    CSMs get tons of requests from customers who cannot find software because they don't know to look under the "EA Virtual Site".

    It would be helpful if we could assign the "EA Virtual Site" as the primary site at the User level within Salesforce....then have this be the default site that shows up when the customer clicks on the "Products" tab.…

  9. Show product release dates on download page

    In order to more clearly identify a particular download version, it would be helpful to see its release date on the download page.

  10. Please don't show me older expired product licenses

    It's confusing - I have old expired licenses that I'm requesting download access, and unknown to me, there is another site has the current license that I'm looking for. Rather than just emailing the account team of my download request, just direct me to where the license is current among the sites that I have download rights to.

  11. Make the pop-up screen for uploading the MSF file for license generation larger or include a scroll down button

    When generating a PI license file on the customer portal, a pop-up screen is presented for uploading the MSF file. When the pop-up screen opens it cuts off before you see where to upload the MSF file. Include a scroll function on the side bar so customers can expand the pop-up screen and see where to upload the MSF file or make the pop screen larger.

  12. Consistent version naming of PI programs

    PI Interfaces, PI Connectors, and other PI programs that are infrequently updated (e.g. PI Interface Configuration Utility, PI Diagnostics, Machine Signature File Generator) currently use the #.#.#.# version naming convention, while the other PI programs are named after the year, release number, and service pack number (e.g. 2017 R2 SP1).

    My suggestion is to reserve the #.#.#.# format for internal use and only expose the customer to the "year R# SP#" format, which is easier to read, recite, and remember compared to the #.#.#.# format.

  13. Update & standardize the properties of OSIsoft programs in Programs And Features

    In Programs And Features in the Control Panel, many of the properties of OSIsoft's programs are unnecessarily inconsistent between programs. See the attachment. This is confusing for the user, makes it more difficult for the user to navigate the programs after a property is sorted, and comes across as sloppy.

    The values of the properties also need to be updated. For example, techsupport@osisoft.com is no longer the preferred way to contact OSIsoft. The links should be updated to avoid dependence on redirects (e.g. HTTP links will redirect to HTTPS and techsupport.osisoft.com will redirect to my.osisoft.com).

  14. Download page should be easier to access

    It's rather convoluted to get to the downloads page. It would be much more user friendly if we could get there in fewer clicks. For example, other software companies have their download page accessible in 2 clicks.

  15. Remove product family from product search criteria

    The Search in the ‘Product’ Section of the Portal allows customers to search a number of fields including anything in the ‘Custom Name’ field. Thus they can name their servers meaningful names (to them) and be able to find them easily.

    This is a great capability BUT we feel that we have identified a problem.

    One of the fields that seems to get searched is ‘Product Family’. This creates the issue.

    It would seem reasonable, in fact a good idea, for a customer to call a server something like ‘Project X Development Server’. But we use ‘Development’ as a Product…

  16. Remove question marks in PI Vision's system requirements

    The offending lines of text are:

    This release?will work with?PI AF 2010 (2.2) but PI AF 2012 R2 (2.5.2) or above?is strongly recommended.?A PI AF Server is mandatory to install?PI Vision.

  17. Add a scroll bar to the System Requirements window

    The system requirements for PI Server, PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework, and PI Vision do not fit within the System Requirements window. This is fine, but please add a scroll bar so that there is some indication that there is more content. Also, some laptop users prefer to drag around a scroll bar instead of using 2-finger scroll.

  19. Contact Amazon to improve CloudFront's security, which will secure myOSIsoft downloads

    OSIsoft's products are hosted on CloudFront, which currently scores a B out of a maximum of A+ on the Qualys SSL Server Test (https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=d3ge87uu8tftqp.cloudfront.net) due to still supporting TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1.

    OSIsoft customers that are using very old browsers (which they shouldn't) are at risk of a man-in-the-middle attack, where the attacker can serve the customer a malicious install kit, get the install kit for free, etc.

    In addition, other changes can be made to make the downloads not only more secure, but also faster. Please contact Amazon to make the changes listed below. The concerns…

  20. Disable "Generate License" button for PI Infrastructure for EA package Data Archive

    As a customer, I would like to know when I am attempting to generate a license against a server that is not valid for license generation. PI Infrastructure for EA package is meant to provide software to the EA and not to instantiate an individual server, but currently license generation against it appears to be valid because the License Generation button is active.
