  1. Do not scroll when links are added to text

In any type of post (question, blog post, etc.), if you add a link to text, the box in which you are typing will scroll so that the text with the link is at the bottom of it. This is especially annoying for blog posts, which can have many links. Please do not scroll when links are added to text.

If you really want to keep some scroll behaviour, then scroll only when a link is being added to text that is not in sight. This can happen if the user highlights the text, scrolls, and then adds a link…

  2. Change the wrapping behaviour at the bottom of the footer

At the bottom of the footer, there is this text:
©2020 OSIsoft. All Rights Reserved | Privacy Policy | Terms and Conditions | Do Not Sell My Info

However, if the text does not fit on a single line (e.g. on a laptop or tablet screen), it will wrap to the next line starting at whatever word doesn't fit. This looks very awkward, as you can see from the attached screenshot.

Please change the behaviour so that the text wraps based on what section doesn't fit. For example, if all of "Do Not Sell My Info" does not fit on…

  3. List PI Square's Terms Of Use under "Code of Conduct" in the footer

Currently, the "Code of Conduct" section of the footer has 2 entries: "Code of Conduct" and "Our Principles". From any page on PI Square, it takes only 1 click to access them.

The Terms Of Use currently take 2 clicks and a bit of scrolling to get to. In the footer, click on "Terms and Conditions" and then click on "OSIsoft PI Square Terms of Use" if you can find it in the sea of other links.

In addition to where PI Square's Terms Of Use are currently listed, please list PI Square's Terms Of Use under the "Code of…

  4. Replace the screenshot of a table with an HTML table in the "Initialization File Structure" article

This article features an excessive amount of text in screenshots. For the code, you could argue that the screenshots were needed to capture some of the highlighting and syntax highlighting. However, there is nothing fancy going on with the table, and so it should be replaced with an HTML table for a few reasons:
    • The screenshot is slightly blurry
    • The table will become copy-and-pastable
    • The table will become readable by those using screen readers
    • To reduce the size of the page and therefore also reduce network traffic, disk wear, and the load time of the page

  5. Name the tabs consistently when viewing all of your own badges

Go to your profile on PI Square and click on "View All" in the "Recognition Badges" pane. You will see 2 tabs:
    • Earned Badges
    • Unearned Mission Badges

Please name these consistently. Use either
    • Earned Badges
    • Unearned Badges
    or
    • Earned Mission Badges
    • Unearned Mission Badges

  6. Widen the "About Me" section of users' profiles

On a user's profile, the section underneath their name seems to be divided into 2 columns. On the right side, there is the "About Me" section. On the left side, there is nothing. Please allow the "About Me" section to use the full width, or at least more of the width, of this area.

  7. Be able to bookmark blog posts and articles

Currently, you can like and follow a blog post, and you can bookmark comments on a blog post, but you cannot bookmark the blog post itself. Similarly, articles (e.g. this: https://pisquare.osisoft.com/s/article/000031888) cannot be bookmarked either.

When I say "bookmark", I mean the bookmark feature of PI Square, not the bookmark feature of the web browser.

Please allow blog posts and articles to be bookmarked.

  8. Better experience with editing links

Currently, it is easy to insert a link to the text of a question, blog post, etc., but it is trickier to view or edit the link afterwards. If you highlight the link text and click on the Link button, the link will be removed. If you instead hover over the link, the cursor will change to a hand, but there is no tooltip. Clicking on the link once does nothing. Double-clicking on the link allows you to edit the link.

This is all very unintuitive. Please show the link in a tooltip when a link is hovered over. Add…

  9. Allow posts to be shared with multiple groups at once

To clarify, when I say "share", I mean sharing by clicking on the "Share" button. Currently, you can select only 1 group when you share a post, and so if you want to share a post with multiple groups, you need to share the post with each group separately and repeat your message to them each time.

When would you want to share with multiple groups at once? Some groups are for a particular industry and other groups are for a particular region, so if a post is relevant to a particular industry in a particular region, you will want…

  10. Show all groups by default when searching for a group to share a post with

On any post, click on "Share" and then "Share with Group". Currently, you must enter at least 2 letters before any search results appear. Since there are very few groups and since it is likely to stay that way, I feel that all groups should appear in the search results as soon as the "Group Name" box has the focus. This will allow the user to browse through the groups rather than need to memorize exact words in the group name.

  12. Remove customers' ability to delete others' comments in PI Square groups

Customers have the power to delete questions and comments that are posted in PI Square's groups, even if they haven't joined that group. More specifically, I see the option to Delete, but I haven't actually tried it out.

I don't know if this has anything to do with many of the groups becoming public, but in any case, "public" should not mean that we all have equal and excessive power.

Please remove our ability to delete others' comments in PI Square groups.

  13. In the migrated blog posts, fix the links to other blog posts

When the blog posts of the old PI Square were migrated to the new PI Square, some links to other blog posts were removed, while others were changed. For a good example of such a mix, see the "Just play the song, Schneebly!" section of this blog post:
    https://pisquare.osisoft.com/s/Blog-Detail/a8r1I000000GvSVQA0/pi-square-has-so-many-activities

Unfortunately, the changed links don't work because they use "news" instead of "Blog-Detail" in the link itself. Please substitute "news" with "Blog-Detail" to make these links work again.

  14. Be able to delete the comment that announces the rename of a blog post

When you change the title of a blog post, a comment is added that announces the rename. This comment cannot be deleted. Please allow users to delete this comment. Most of the time, readers don't care that a blog post was renamed and the comment just adds unnecessary clutter to the page.

For an example of a renamed blog post, see:

  15. Revise badge descriptions that mention "correct" or "helpful"

Several badges have descriptions that mention "correct" and/or "helpful". However, the new PI Square dropped the "mark as helpful" feature and "mark as correct" is now worded as "select as best".

Please revise the descriptions of these badges to reflect these changes. These revisions should be made when you view someone's badges and on the PI Square badge guide (https://pisquare.osisoft.com/s/article/000032470).

  16. Rename the "You've got Support" badge to "You've Got Support"

The "got" is the only word in all of the badge names that is not capitalized. It is also not a word like "a" or "of" that is normally not capitalized. Please capitalize the "got" to make the capitalization in the badge names consistent.

  17. Change the layout of the PI product categories on https://www.osisoft.com/pi-system

Instead of arranging the 4 categories in a neat square, PI Core takes up as much space as PI Cloud and PI Edge combined despite having a similar amount of text, and the developer technologies are below and outside of the "square".

Please either arrange these categories into a square or expand the image in PI Core to fill that awkward space in the middle.

  18. False advertising: incorrect count of standard PI Interfaces

The "PI Interfaces" section of this page (https://www.osisoft.com/pi-system/pi-core/collection) says that there are over 225 standard PI Interfaces. However, when you click on the "Search connectivity options" button on the same page and filter for standard anything (PI Interfaces, PI APS Connectors, PI Connectors, PI Adapters, etc.), only 79 results are returned. 60 of these results are PI Interfaces. These numbers are only going to decrease even more over time.

Please change the "over 225" to something correct and more futureproof like "over 50".

  19. Add new badges for the PI Developers Club All-Stars & Rising Stars

Recognition as an All-Star or Rising Star is a badge of honour. Please make the previous sentence no longer a metaphor by adding badges on PI Square that identify these award recipients as such.

This should help make the recognition more permanent and more visible, especially since the All-Star announcement posts are even harder to find on the new PI Square than the old one. Some years don't even have announcement posts.

It will be up to OSIsoft if they want to make badges for each combination of year and category or just for each category. To be clear, the…

  20. Document all badges in the "PI Square badge guide" article

There are at least 4 badges that do not appear in the "PI Square badge guide" article (https://pisquare.osisoft.com/s/article/000032470):
    • PI System Infrastructure
    • PI System Application Developer
    • PI System Installation
    • Employee Badge

Please document all badges in the "PI Square badge guide" article. If a badge cannot be earned anymore or if a badge was migrated for legacy reasons, then state this but do not exclude it entirely.
