Hi Vasanthakumar. Could you clarify what it is you are requesting that is not already provided in PI Vision? There is currently a Hyperlink option to "Set Start and End Time". When that is checked, the display start and end time is automatically passed to the linked displays using the URL parameters. No manual intervention is required for this. I just confirmed that this is how it works in PI Vision 2017 R2, and I believe this feature has been present in previous releases as well.

Could you provide more information about your scenario? In early versions of the application, it did autosave. When we redesigned it, we switched to manual saves. It seems to me that in a more ad hoc scenario, autosave is helpful and the most appropriate approach. In a scenario where a display author is carefully crafting a display for use by multiple other people, the higher control offered by manual saving seems more appropriate.

One of the implementation concerns we've had is what color and style the traces should be. Because the data items are dynamic, it is possible that the color for a given data item could change between updates. Would using the same color for all traces be acceptable in this situation? Or would it be OK to have the possibility of the trace colors changing? If the element search is not based on attribute values, the traces would only change when elements are removed or added.

Updating a ProcessBook display should not change the display ID. There might be a system issue that is causing the display to be removed before it is re-added, which could cause this issue. We do currently provide a URL to access the ProcessBook display by its path and name, not its ID. I think that should meet your needs. Here is an example from the PI Vision Installation and Administration Guide:

If the path to the PI ProcessBook display file is \\fileServer\Imports\Dealer
\Customer2\ChemicalPlant\DistillationProcess.svg you can open it using the
    following URL:
    https://webServer/PIVision/#/PBDisplayName/Dealer
    /Customer2/ChemicalPlant/DistillationProcess

    I hope this is helpful.

This feature is needed when the time zone is overridden, either by using a URL parameter in the browser or by overriding it for the entire site on the application server. Without displaying the time zone, it appears that the times are client times and there is no indication that they are different from what is expected.

I recommend that you open a support case for this issue. This sounds like a bug that should be tracked down and fixed.

Hi Paul. Which version are you using? In the 2017 R2 release, the collection's search root should change when the display's asset context changes. In a future release, the visibility property of a symbol can be controlled as part of a more advanced multistating feature. We also want to more appropriately control how we display symbols when their attributes do not exist for the current asset. I'm sorry we were not able to get this done in the initial release.

One part of this is supported as of the 2017 R2 release. You can choose to have a single scale by setting the "MultipleScales" parameter to false. For example: https://webserver/website/#/Displays/AdHoc?DataItems=\\afserver
    \B-210|Temperature;\\piserver\aPIPoint&Symbol=trend;MultipleScales=false

    Hi Erick,
Thanks for your suggestion. For some other features, in addition to this request, we've been discussing how many templates are reasonable on a server. Would you mind sharing approximately how many templates you have? Also, for the elements that you would like to hide, are the elements that use that template already inaccessible to those end users?

Hi Jerome. Why is the undo setting marked on the display in this case? Only the owner of the display is able to modify the display, so it shouldn't be necessary to have this flag set in the scenario you describe. The main purpose of the read-only setting is to prevent the display owner from accidentally modifying the saving the display.

The green "Now" button indicates that the values shown on the display (e.g., in singleton symbols, trend legends, and tables are the most recent values at the current time. Trends will show traces of future data, but all numeric values that are shown correspond to "now".

Hi Erik, It's not exactly what you're asking for, but you can add an Asset= parameter to the URL and fully specify the path to the element you want to show. You can then email this URL to someone. Unfortunately, it's not as easy to create the URL as the method you suggest, but once the URL value is manually entered, the result will be the same. For example, adding this parameter to the end of the URL will open a display showing the Black Mesa wind farm:
?asset=\\pvaf\WindPower\WInd Power Generation Fleet\Black Mesa Wind Farm

Peter's suggestion has been implemented in PI Vision 2017 R2 (the latest release). The hidetimebar, hidetoolbar, and hidesidebar parameters all support "true" and "false" values. By default the current values will be persisted as before, but they can now be overridden in the URL definition. The "mode=kiosk" parameter was not changed, so this will need to be considered in a future release.

It's not exactly what you are asking for, but you can configure a value symbol to only show the attribute name and not the value. The entire symbol will still act like a link, even when the link value is not displayed. This might provide a workaround for your current problem until we can solve it more completely.

Columns in both table types can be reordered by dragging them with the mouse (or a finger on a touch device).

Am I understanding correctly that this request is for an administrator to limit which PI Data Archive servers are available to individual users? There is already an option to configure this for an entire site, but not to have different servers available to different users.

The hidesidebar URL parameter should do what you are asking for. Also note that by default the asset/event pane will be closed when opening a PI Vision display. It should only be open by default on Event Comparison displays or when creating a new display.

We appreciate this feedback, but the system will work better if each suggestion is entered separately. That allows others to vote for the specific request and increase its visibility.
The XYPlot was released in PI Vision 2017 as CTP. It should work for most users.
The decimal digits option is planned for a future release.

In the PI Vision 2017 release, we introduced Collections and an Asset Comparison Table, both of which allow you to quickly and easily compare attributes across similar assets.

We are looking for feedback on whether or not these features satisfy this request for an Asset Comparison Display.
