Using Tahoma for number clarity is seen as an HSE issue by BP, ADNOC and others, and is a requirement for some installations such as ADNOC Panorama etc., because of this. Here is a comparison showing the potential for visual confusion in the font choice for PI Vison. Tahoma should be the default choice for PI Vision to avoid confusion between 8, 3, 9 and 6. TExt is identical to current choice.

    Thanks for your feedback!

The PI ProcessBook to PI Vision Migration Utility is still in development for the upcoming release of PI Vision 2019 and is expected to be released late October/November 2019. This tool will allow you to analyze your ProcessBook displays ahead of the migration to assess which displays are ready to migrate and which displays may need to be evaluated prior to migration.

For companies for whom ESRI is not an option, support for QGIS / GRASS may be a good choice.

QGIS is a user friendly Open Source Geographic Information System (GIS) licensed under the GNU General Public License. QGIS is an official project of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). It runs on Linux, Unix, Mac OSX, Windows and Android and supports numerous vector, raster, and database formats and functionalities.

There are times when access to specific location data using a Google Map window and Google Map layers would be of value, but other times when more analytic capability from say Bubble Charts as a geography would be useful, such as https://www.highcharts.com/maps/demo/map-bubble .

Maybe the right answer is a cookbook on how to customise the addition of generic tools such as Google Maps, or seperately licensed but low cost tools, such as HighCharts is a solution that would address many needs. ESRI is not the answer for all these geographic issues, ( Though it is useful in some cases) but is also a high cost option. A cookbook on how to integrate PI Vision to free tools such as Google Maps, where Lat Long can come from AF, or to a low cost licenced tools such as HighCharts would be great, rather than develop map capability internally.
