Like: during a batch, frequently update the volume produced to a PI Point?

We need a frequent update to trigger other analysis, like checking for limits to generate e.g. an out-of-control EventFrame and/or trigger a Notification.
Now we need to do the cumbersome work of first finding the start of the batch and then do the analysis to calculate the volume.
NOTE: simplfied example, i know there are other ways to achieve this

In response to Floris Zwaard, "Roger Palmen did you mean this idea; htt..."
Not really. The note from Tom points to the tool currently available which is too limited. Hence the new idea, more specific for export / import instead of copy / migrate.

See this as the difference between the copy / poaste function in PSE, or the Pi Builder functionality. Quite different in their use.

Odd, somehow this was turned into an idea. I originally had the link to the feedback item in the post, but i may have forgotten. Anyway, votes are better placed here: https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/320517-pi-coresight/suggestions/18689953-exporting-and-importing-of-displays

The CTP display copy tool is too limited. If we have a way to export & import displays in XML or Excel, that would allow for the proper maintenance, distribution, generation, version management, etc. of Coresight displays.

Now i need to manually build all displays MANUALLY 4 times when i push them through my environments from Dev, Test, Acceptance, Production. Environments are not on the same network, they can be local developer VM,s in different countries, different organisations, etc.

Step 1: do at least something to save me from painstakingly trying to align objects on a display.
Step 2: yes, like the dynamic grid very much! But first ease the pain before i can fall in love.

Must have to create clean displays. Now i spend about 10% of my time building displays on aliging things nicely. Just one pixel can make a difference between messy and clean

Adding some feedback from this thread: https://pisquare.osisoft.com/thread/32763-why-do-we-have-different-color-pickers-for-symbols-shapes-and-multi-state

The different color palettes for Multi-State and Symbols are annoying.
To find a compromise between flexibilty and ease-of-use, i would design something like a color palette. As a server-wide setting, one can select an X number of standard colors. That palette is then shown for the various locations where colors can be chosen.

Not sure if that passes best practices around security....but in general i would not limit the files in any way but leave the checking of safety to the webbrowser and other software on the endpoint.

These are the simple things that have great potential!
One example i have: action plans or SOPs are loaded into AF as a PDF. Now i have an in an attribute URL pointing to a IIS virtual directory where i store the PDFs. Too many steps, which i could replace with one simple attribute and one stock symbol.

E.g. the attribute value symbol could be extended to download this file to the client.

Maybe taking this a bit broader. Not only a maximum duration, but we could also want to "split" the EventFrame at specific times. E.g. stop the running EF at midnight, and start a new EF if the trigger conditions are still true. Example use case: split downtime events on shift changes.

In response to Arie van Boven, "Hi Nitin,   The 5 seconds latency is no ..."
In cases where there is specific business logic required to determine when the data for a calculation is 'valid', i would recommend to use a 2-stage approach:
Have a natural scheduled analysis that evaluates if all data for a specific evaluation is present. If true, send a value to a trigger PI Point, else, NoOutput()Perform your actual calculation as usual, but only trigger by the PI Point from the previous analysis.Be aware that you can only evaluate the values at the trigger time, as you can only write values at the trigger time.
For values that typically calculate every X-time, you can create a periodic trigger with offset for the last X periods. E.g. the daily KPI calculations at 2 hours after the start of the day.

That two trigger values have the same timestamp, does not mean that they are known at the same time. How would you know you have received the last event?

There is of course the delay in evaluation of analysis, but that is a global setting and would need configuration for each individual analysis.

We really should have this. Especially with the attribute traits in AF2016 we have all the components available.

Now that we have attribute traits in AF2016 one would like to use that to display SPC charts.

No easy workaround as the ProcessBook SQC functionality is not supported in Coresight.
