There is a common powershell parameter called ErrorAction. Unfortunately setting this to SilentlyContinue, Continue or Ignore results in the import stopping and a check-in of some new objects and other objects are left in a checked out state. If ErrorAction is not defined, the import stops and does an undo check-in. Perhaps this common parameter could be implemented properly to solve this request.

As a workaround, I'm using the powershell cmdlet start-process to start the afimport.exe.

This feature would allow counting active alarm tags. Currently it is only possible to rollup active alarm tags if the active state has the state no 1. In my current case, there are a mix of tags from different control systems and for some state no 1 means inactive. There are workarounds, but a filter expression would be easier to implement and keep configuration simple.

We are considering migrating from another alerting system that supports a "grace period" which can be different across multiple assets/equipment of the same type (e.g. same template). The event frames true for can only be set on the template. As such, migrating to event frames/notifications will result in less granular configuration of "grace periods" and we would have to use a generic one to apply to all assets/equipment of the same template.

We have a workaround in some cases, not all, by using the TimeGT etc. functions and referencing an attribute for the start time, but I suspect these functions are more expensive than using a native grace period like true for. There are other limitations as well such as not being able to use other functions such as Compare to implement deadbands more easily.

We are considering migrating from another alerting system that supports a "grace period" which applies to both the start and end of an event. The event frames true for allows us to define the "grace period" for the start of an event, but not the end. As such, migrating to event frames/notifications would result in more alerts being generated.

We don't actually need an explicit end trigger in our case, so having something like "False for" on the start trigger would be more convenient, but we could easily create an end trigger if a "True for" was implemented for it.

We have a workaround in some cases, not all, by using the TimeGT etc. functions, but I suspect these functions are more expensive than using a native grace period like true for. There are other limitations as well such as not being able to use other functions such as Compare to implement deadbands more easily.

    Hi,
So what would be the expected behavior if elements have already been created from the template? It would then be possible to have deletion of data upon an import of a template. What if there are overridden template attributes? What would be the expected behavior if the imported template affects these overridden template attributes?

In answer to Stephen's questions, I don't think there needs to be any special handling for these scenarios. The normal affect on elements of deleting their attribute and analysis templates should apply. I have created a similar request, but it also covers other object types, not just templates - https://feedback.osisoft.com/forums/555148-pi-server/suggestions/38566315-xml-export-import-to-support-object-deletion

From this item description it looks like the major pain point with existing RDBMS interface is providing configuration information (to the tags and interface). I would like to understand more if the request behind the connector is to solely minimize providing configuration information to the existing interface and tags?
