How does the lack of this functionality impact your work? How often does this happen? How many assets are typically in your view? And how many assets are typically affected?
Does the new automatic updates through persistent signups (introduced in 2018) mitigate this problem at all?

Development on an ADLS Gen2 writer for the PI Integrator for BA is well underway! Thank you all for your patience in waiting for this release. I will update this item’s status once we have the release available.
For anyone who has not yet seen Microsoft’s recent announcement, they have provided guidance and timelines around the Gen1 to Gen2 switch, with Gen1 having an end-of-life of Feb 2024 (at time of writing):

If you voted for this idea, did you mean JSON format in the Text File target, or to support JSON format in a new target or existing target? Currently we support JSON format for the Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, Azure IoT Hub, Amazon Kinesis Data Streams, and Amazon S3 writers.

We're feeling the same pain because of lacking "selective" backfill/update. We don't have a complete AF tree in place, which means we would keep adding more AF elements which would match Integrator views. These views are streaming data into Azure Eventhub, auto-captured to Blob store, being processed by Databricks, and finally writing results to Postgresql.
Without "selective" backfill for only new matches, we have to backfill all in the views, which would take a much longer time, and what's even worse is introducing duplicates for all downstream processes and extra cost for storage and computation in Azure.
