How would you like to track this information? For example, is it sufficient to be a message in a log file, a performance counter? Do you want to maintain the history of all the changes you want on this flag? This will help us understand how to implement it.

If you use PI Notifications to send for example daily reports and those reports are missed for more than 3 days, then you effectively have lost the ability to send the reports. You must manually create them using other PI client tools. It seems like when you are manually backfilling analyses that generate the notifications, there should be a simple configuration option to increase/decrease the 72 hour setting or disable sending notifications all together. That would save the extra step of locating and disabling the notifications before you backfill the analyses.

The Tau Framework buffering used by connectors is very "black box". There is limited information available to monitor its status and make sure you have adequate disk space available to be able to buffer during an extended network outage. This has been standard functionality of the PI Buffer Subsystem (pibufss) for years. And we rely on this ability to qualify new installations to say that they (1) buffer correctly and (2) are sized properly to meet requirements. It seems odd to release a new "improved" interface architecture without at least the same capabilities of the existing interface architecture.

    EVALUATING  ·  Abbas Saboowala responded

We understand that for slow changing points, values might not change often and thus there is a need to collect values at certain time intervals as opposed to on change. However, scanning at frequent intervals leads to increased load on the server and thus can lead to performance degradation. We are discussing how best to solve this problem with PI Connector for OPC UA.
